PPT 2003 won't play avi video

I can insert a movie but if it's avi (which plays fine with Windows Media
Player) when I play it in PPT I only get the sound, with a black screen. If
it's a wmv clip it all works fine but I need to insert some avi clips!

Anyone know what to do??

I'd consider getting a general movie file convertor, to convert the avi to
wmv
