PPT 2007 forces read only saves

Ive just installed PPT07 and after saving a file one time, it becomes read
only. The read only button in the file properties window is NOT checked.
There are no embeded fonts. The mark as final button is NOT selected. This is
quite disturbing. Can someone please tell me how to make PPT 07 let me save
my changes without renaming the file every time?

Thanks

No it wasnt. I create a new file. add a slide. save the file. then the next
time i try to save it i get a read only error message and have to rename it.
I have tried saving the file to my local hard drive and to a network drive.

Only issue I can think besides "mark as final" is that there's an embedded
font that isn't installed on the computer -- but that seems pretty unlikely
if it's happening on new, blank files. Might as well check to see what fonts
are listed under Home | Editing | Replace | Replace Fonts -- do any of the
fonts in the included list have a ? in front of them? (I know you said no
embedded fonts in the original post, but please humor me.)

You mentioned you add a slide. How are you adding it?

Is your default save still set to save as PowerPoint Presentation (which is
a 2007 format), or is it set to save as 97-2003 or some other format?

What's the exact text of the message you get the next time you try to save
the file?

Does the same thing happen in, say, Word in the same folder locations? Which
operating system are you using?
