PPT 2008 creating nightmares with other versions

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Intel

Presentation created in PPtMac 2004 includes audio (mp3) and video (mpg) files. Ran fine on both Macs and PCs until I upgraded (without thinking first!!) to PPtMac 2008.

Still runs OK on PCs up to PPtPC2007, but all kinds of strange things happening in both versions of PPtMac -- Like videos don't run at all, type spacing is totally changed, trying to save as package only collects some of the audio and video files, video files show in custom animation order with no file tag (.mpg disappeared).

Any ideas how I can get this thing to work before I send it off to have 1,000 copies made for a training package for educators? I'm thinking the next phase of this 3-part project will NOT be using PowerPoint -- maybe Flash? What about DVD? The cross-platform and software version nightmares are aging me quickly!!
