ppt docs very slow to open

i am a user of ppt2000 on a windows 98 system.
have several existing ppt docs that all of a sudden are
now taking 5-6 minutes to open or save. they are approx
7500 kb files.

help . . . and be gentle, i am a computer novice.

When I'm getting ready to work on large files I delete temporary internet files,
go to my mail program and (offline) compact all folders; and then do error
checking (scan disk) and then defrag. This cleans up a lot of mess we don't
usually notice is there.

Also, a defrag of the hard drive would not hurt. Drop us a line back if
