PPT file taking long time to open on a USB memory key

Hi all,
I have some powerpoint files on a USB flash memory device that take forever
to open up in Powerpoint XP Professional SP3 or sometimes simply hangs up
the machine. When I move the files to the local hard drive the files open
up fine. This seems to happen only on this particular machine. I hink it
has something to do with my A/V product. It has Symantec A/V the home
edition which I disabled but I am still having the same issue.
