When I type into text boxes on the slide, spelling is recognized correctly for the Australian dictionary. SmartArt Graphic elements, however, mark the words as incorrect unless I use the US Dictionary spelling!

So, Colour / Color, Tyre / Tire*, Aluminium / Aluminum are marked as incorrect & correct on THE SAME SLIDE.

* Obviously Tire is not marked as incorrect, as it has an alternate meaning spelt the same way in both dictionaries.

Very interesting - and even more so that this hasn't been mentioned here
before... At least as far as I recall. I can repro here exactly what you've
described, so it appears to be a bug unless we both have the same problem.

Oddly, in Word you have no control over language while editing one of the
SAGs ‹ they appear to inherit Language format from the default setting. It
may be "by design" for some reason but I honestly do not know.

I'll run up a flag & see what response I get from MacBU. Will reply with
whatever I hear although it may be a while.

Great problem.... stupid bug. I also logged a prblem with MS on this. In performing their checks, I discovered that the SmartArt Graphics have their own language setting -- and for some reason it doesn't pick up either the system default or PowerPoint default.

To correct the problem, select a SmartArt element, then go "Tools > Language" and change the language, then press the default language.
