One solution is to open PowerPoint and then open the presentation from
within PowerPoint.

The other solution is to open Windows Explorer, select a .PPT file, go to
Tools > Folder Options > File Types and locate PPT and select it. Click on
the Advanced button and locate "Open" in the list of actions. Then press
the "Set Default" button. Press OK, Close, and then test the change by
double clicking on the .PPT file. It should open in Normal View.

Hello Panos,

It sounds like you have inadvertently changed the default Windows action
when double-clicking on a *.PPT file from Windows Explorer from "Open" to
"Show"

You can change this as follows

1) Open Windows Explorer
2) Tools -> Folder Options
3) Switch to the "File Types" tab
4) In the list select "PPT Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation"
5) Click the "Advanced" button
6) Select "Open" from the list of Actions
7) Click the "Set Default" button
8) Click OK
9) Click Close

Now try to open a *.PPT from from Windows Explorer.
