PPT show shows up on wrong laptop screen??

I'm trying to play a ppt on my laptop with a Epson PowerLite S3
projector. XP OS. I haven't done this for months, but I've gotten it to
work in the past so that I can see the slide show on the screen the
projector is aimed at. I have the desktop background projected on the
4x6' screen. I move PPT program over there and play the slide show. It
comes up on the laptop screen instead. Same thing if I have PPT on the
laptop screen.

If I Look at the Control Panel Display icon,I have a display 1 and 2.

1 is primary, 1280x800. Big numeral 1 appears if
I press the Setting Identify
2 is secondary, 1024x768. Big numeral 2 appears if
I press the Setting Identify.

I can drag the two display icons back and forth on the the Display
Setting screen. That is, switch there positions. I then hit OK, and
really nothing changes. The identities are the same, and the laptop will
show the ppt slide show.

What am I missing? I fired up the projector first, then the laptop.

Ha! Who woulda guessed. Last night, as I headed for bed, I wondered if I
had to do some set up on the projector screen to tell the projector I
was using a PC. I tried it this morning, and it didn't help. I had
noticed last night Fn+F5 did jiggle some video noise at the bottom of
the screen. Still didn't work, so I did it rapidly. Voila! It's now working.
I don't ever recall doing that though. Now if it'll hold up for tonight
at my presentation, I'll be happy.

Make that Fn+F4.
