PPT trying to access Internet

Ben

Hello,

I have a slight problem with a Powerpoint presentation that I have had sent
to me. When I launch the presentation, Powerpoint tries to contact the
internet. I know this because I use a proxy and I get prompted for my
username/password. Regardless on whether I enter my credentials correctly or
not, the information in the slides does not show up.

The information in question is text. The slideshow is about 15 slides and
the missing information is only on a few of these slides.

It seems to be computer specific, if I open up the presentation on another
PC (even a standalone PC) the information displays correctly (again,
regardless if I enter in my correct username/password) I have tried to resave
the presentation on a working machine and reopen it on the problem machine
but I'm receiving the same results.

Just wondering if somebody could please point me in the right direction.

Cheers.. Ben

Hi Glen,

Thanks for the reply.

I checked the proxy logs and it is trying to download an image from the
Internet, but the actual image that it's downloading is displaying correctly
within the presentation regardless of whether I authenticate to the proxy or
not. It stil random text (which I suspect isn't from the internet) that isn't
appearing

The plot thickens!

Cheers.. Ben

Hi Ben,

The plot thickens indeed!

Any chance you could send it for me to look at? Hopefully it is less than 5
meg.

Another thing to try. With the file open in PowerPoint, go Start| Run| and
type in:

msinfo32

Then hit enter. Under the Office applications, you will find PowerPoint
<your version> and you can look at a summary of any hyperlinks.
