PPT: What's the difference between msoTextBox & msoPlaceholder?

Hello Dave,

The msoPlaceholder is used to identify a Placeholder in the PowerPoint
presentation. The place holder is a box with dotted or hatch-marked
borders. Even if there is no text inserted into the place holder, it is
still there and occupy the place. So the place holder is usually used to
layout the slide with some prompt message. When we create a new slide. The
default added boxes with prompt "Click to add title" and "click to add
text" are place holder type.

The document about the PowerPoint placeholder can be found here
http://office.microsoft.com/en-au/powerpoint/HA102107251033.aspx#2

The msoTextBox is used to identify the common text box. We can click the
Insert Tab->Text Group->Text Box->Horizontal Text Box button to insert a
common text box. If we do not insert any text in it, the placeholder will
not persist on the slide.
