Ppt2007: Exporting resized slides as images

In ppt 2003, one could resize the slide and export as an image without loss
of quality. In 2007, even with compression turned off, text appears fuzzy
upon export. A standard size slide export seems to work fine, but decreasing
the width/height and saving causes the issue. Are there any other compression
settings (aside from those in the save menu) that can be adjusted to prevent
this compression? I'm trying to avoid resizing slides after export...

What file format are you using for the export? As a rule of the thumb, PNG
works best.
