Pre-filtered 'Build Team from Enterprise'

Is there a way to set a pre-filter when using the Build Team from
Enterprise function in Project Professional 2003?
I mean, if I have 500+ resources in the pool that are made available
to project managers, it may be an issue everytime they open the
function and it waits to load 500+ resources. Is there a way to set a
pre-filter so everytime they open the function, they get to see their
"favourite" resources first, then expand the filter as needed?

It is not possible to pre-filter the list of resources in the Build Team
from Enterprise dialog in Microsoft Project Professional. On the other
hand, what you wish to accomplish can be easily handled in the Project
Center page of PWA. Select any cell for a project (do not click the project
name) and then click the Build Team button on the toolbar above the grid.
Expand the Filter enterprise resources section, build a filter using your
organization's custom enterprise resource outline code fields, and then
click the Apply Filter button. Once you have filtered the list of resources
that appear in the Filtered Enterprise Resource list on the left side of the
page, you can use the Availability button to find available resources for
the project. Expand the Project detail section at the bottom of the page if
you need to be reminded of the tasks in the project and the types of
resources required. By the way, Microsoft refers to this Build Team page in
PWA as the Team Builder Lite. Hope this helps.

Grace,

We found a fix from Microsoft to do this when we were using MS Project 2002
and it works the same in MS Project 2003 Pro.

PreFilter Fix
1. Quit Project.
2. Click Start, and then click Run.
3. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
4. Locate the following registry key, and then and then click the following
registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\MS Project
5. With the MS Project key selected, point to New on the Edit menu, and then
click DWORD.
6. Type PrefilterLimit, and then press ENTER.
7. Right-click PrefilterLimit, and then click Modify.
8. In the Value data box, type a numeric value that is less than 1,000, I
used 100 decimal and then click OK.
9. Exit regedit. File/Exit.

This value determines when the Prefilter dialog box opens after the Build
Team from Enterprise command is used. By default, the Prefilter dialog box
opens if the total number of resources is 1,000 or more.

Hope this helps.
