Presence awareness not working

B

Bob

Hi everyone,

I'm having a problem with awareness on this PC. When Groove is active all
users are shown as offline. To the other users I am online and if I add a
file, calendar update, etc. it will transfer to the other users.

I have used Grooveclean a number of times, rebooted after grooveclean,
restarted Groove itself a number of times to no avail.

I've added the network specs below.

Any ideas or suggestions appreciated.

Thanks,
Bob

Hi Bob,

Here are a few things to look at:

1. Go to Options > Preferences > Account and look at the window that
displays the names of the computers with your account - delete any computers
that are out of sync or no longer using Groove.
2. Go to Options > Preferences > Identities and select “Save this contact as
a file†– send this file to another Groove user – have them find your contact
in their Launchbar, right click the contact, and select delete – have them
save the contact file that you sent them locally, then double click – then
have them send you a Groove Instant Message and see if this clears it up

Hi Gregg,

I tried this so for option 1, there is only one computer listed and it shows
a status of ready. For option 2, I did this and still have the same
result. I show myself as online and others can see me but no one shows up
as online at my end. I can make entries and have them update for others and
vice versa.

The problem seems to be limited to awareness only. Also, I checked the
communications manager and there is no traffic waiting to be sent.

Puzzling!

Thanks,
Bob

Hi Bob,

The next thing to do is to do #2 again, but this time reverse it and have
another user send you their contact Groove vCard.

I tried this and it still does not demonstrate awareness for my PC with
others or others showing as online on my PC.

Hi Bob,

Yes, it is puzzling.

As a test, log out of your account. Create a new account and add a contact
that you know is online. If you receive awareness of this contact, then the
problem is narrowed down to the account level.
