Preserving same page layout on different PC

Hi

We are using Word at office with several people working on
the same, shared Word doc. We notice that the page layout
gets messed up when working from one computer to another -
although the document file is the same for both computer.

Is there anyway we can 'lock' the page setting when
editing a document so that the page layout is preserved
when opened on another computer?

It appears this issue may happen in case the document is
printed on different printers - however, in our case, the
printer used is the same (only 1 printer shared with all
the computers)

Many thanks for your cooperation

Kind regards,

Brian

No, there's no way to lock the pages in the way you describe. The trick is
to remove the causes of the differences. You mention that different printers
are not the problem in your case. Other possibilities are:

1) different templates. For example, if the document is based on normal.dot
it may inherit some properties from the normal template on each user's
computer (eg if the document is set to automatically update styles, and
different users have defined those styles differently in their own copy of
the template). If you're all on the same network, set up a workgroups
template folder to which everyone has access (go to Tools > Options > File
locations) then base the document on a template in that folder.

2) different fonts. if the document uses fonts that are available on some
computers and not on others ... Make sure everyone has the same set of of
font files.
