Prevent file delition

Is there any way to protect a Word or Excel file so that
it can not be accidentally deleted by another user?

Cindy,

You can mark it Read-Only (Right click it - Properties - Read only). This
won't guarantee it, as it only gives the user a message, but still gives the
option to delete.

Or get the network folks to change the rights for that file.
