preventing previous messages being altered

In Groupwise when forwarding or responding to a message
previous messages cannot be altered. In Outlook 2003 they
can be deleted or changed. Is there any way to prevent
this?

Also you can move a meeting (set up by soemone else) on
your calendar without any problem being flagged?!

Has anyone any ideas on preventing these two things.

Mark the message private and yes, you can move the meeting but not notify
the other attendees.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After furious head scratching, Roberta Walker asked:

Sorry - perhaps I am not doing it correctly, but I am
marking a message as "private" via options in the new
message - sending it from my 2003 home acount to my 2003
Office account (via web mail) then forwarding it to a
hotmail account I also use. I can not only delete parts
of earlier message but also add to it. I have tried this
in the opposite direction from my office web mail to my
home account and onward to a friends 2003 account (private
is showing in the header on both occasions)?!
