Preview Pane at root of a PST?

I am running OL 02 and I have a message rule that moves my email from
the Exchange Server Inbox to a folder within a local PST. I recently
changed this rule so that it delivers the mail to the root of the PST.
In doing so, I can not get that root folder to display the Preview
Pane. Every other folding within the same PST shows the PP just fine.
There are several posts in the NG about restoring the PP and I have
followed those:

-> view|current viwe|Define Views...|Modify...|Other settings and check
Show Preview Pane

-> Run scanpst.exe

-> rename outcmd.dat file

None of them restore the PP to the root of a PST. I have tried this on
all of my local PSTs. Is it possible to have the PP display at the
root in a PST? That option seems to drop out of View menu only at this
location.

Pls let me know if I am missing something.

Thank you

Apparently it's not possible. The root folder was never intended to be used
for item storage.

I'm using OL 2003 and I copied several messages from their folders to the
root of a PST and when I select the PST itself, I see the messages and the
Reading Pane works fine, so maybe it's an issue with OL 2002.
