Preview Pane format lost in unread mail view

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel I'm trying to set up a new mail view for Status equal to Unread (original UNread deleted in error), the search works fine but when I set the preview pane to Below List and save the search this setting seems to get overwritten so that each time I go back into my Unread view the Preview Pane has defaulted to Right of List.

Minor but annoying - any ideas gratefully eceived.

Hi!

Did you sort this out?
I have the same problem, or just about. Am trying to desable the previe pane
in a saved search, and every time I come back to the saved search the preview
pane is there again.

Yes I get the same - preview pane for a new saved search always reverts to 'On Right' no matter how you set it.

Workround for me was to sacrifice a pre-existing Mail View that did have a 'Below List' preview pane set up, edited the search term and renamed to 'Unread'.

Not elegant and no help unless you have a spare saved search with the right layout.

Would still be interested if anyone has the real answer!
