Primavera-like Gantt view

I like Primavera's view, that shows color-shading by WBS level..., so, L1 for
instance might be yellow, L2 might be green, and so on. I'm trying to use the
group-by function to show this, but it only does it based on certain kinds of
metadata - not by WBS level... I don't want all L1s for the plan at the top,
then all L2s nested within it... I simply want the standard Gantt, but shaded
to help readers comprehend complexity more easily. Thank you!

TimA,

In the Gantt chart view, you can use Format-Bar then pick whatever
appearance you want for the selected tasks.

right but not quite what i'm after. imagine a mpp with a WBS L1 on row 1. and
another down on line 47. Imagine also that rows 2 and 48 have L2, and so on
and so forth. I'd like rows 1 and 47 and the right-most margin to display in
yellow shading (or whatever color) and rows 2 and 48 to show as green, with
the green nested within the yellow area.

Hoi,

Set a formula in a number of flag fields that will be yes for tasks with a
certain outline level.
Then read the faqs (URL in my signature below), faq 31. Customizing task
bars.
