Print a report in 2003

Is it possible in 2003 to print say a report that calculates totals i.e the
total number of appointments on the calendar for a particular month?

Also, with reports, do you have to create a custom view then print using
that view generally speaking? as I can't see any way of customising printing
in Page Setup etc

Any help appreciated.
