Sorry to be so daft my dear, but yes that's exactly what I did. And I've
just tried it again with the same results. There's just no buttons or
tabs
or anything else showing. Is it possible to send a screen shot of what
I've
got here to you? Then maybe you could tell me what I'm missin' here...
sigh.
Sorry.
When I open up a publisher document, blank or otherwise, then go to the
Format menu, it opens up the Color Schemes on the left. From there I
select
the first one called "(Custom)". It is black and gray colors only.
Nothing
happens, no button shows up. Zip.
HAAAAAAAA!!!!!!! Just checked it out again. I have a brain now. I was
clicking the (Custom) up in the color scheme box. What I needed to click
was
clear at the bottom, not in the box, there's a link called "Custom color
scheme". If I click that, the Standard Tab is there... the Print Color
Sampler button is there... ahhh life is good. Terminology is an
interesting
thing isn't it...? Thanks for your help.

Have you actually gone into the Format menu, clicked on color schemes,
and
selected Custom Color Scheme? If so, you would have seen that there is a
button marked "Print Color Sample".

Actually it's not. I want to print it. How do you print it? I did
the
first and second step. Now I want to know what the third step means.
You
have to do the third step in order to get it to print a color sampler.
And I
don't know what the "Standard tab" is so I cannot 'then click Print
color
sampler'. Thanks again.

Copied from the help file:
Compare printer and screen colors by printing a color sampler
Depending on the desktop printer and the print settings you select,
the
colors in your printed publication might differ from the colors you
see
on
the screen. Printing a color sampler before you design your
publication
will
help you decide what colors will work best with your printer.
On the Format menu, click Color Scheme.
In the Color Scheme task pane, click Custom color scheme.
Click the Standard tab, and then click Print color sampler.
You found the third step - the answer was in the first and second
steps.

That's the title of that particular page in 'Help' in Publisher
2003.
You
could enter "compare print and screen colors" to get to the page.
Hope
this
helps. Thanks.

In what instructions?

In the instructions for "Compare print and screen colors by
printing
a
color
sampler", the third instruction says, "Click the Standard tab,
and
then
click
Print color sampler." What Standard tab? Where is the Standard
tab
to
be
found? Have found nothing anywhere that shows an option to
'click
Print
color sampler'. Thanks
