Print error Word 2000

USing OS XP, Word 2000, Service Pack 1, Office 2002 suite. from the
suite. Can not print using Word documents. Can print using Excel,
Access, PowerPoint, and other applications on the computer. Documents
sent to the printer from Word indicates a document error, doesn't
matter which document. Will also not print a blank document. Tried
using the repair Word function to no effect. Tried resetting Word,
through Start - run with no effect.
No add-ins have been accepted. Any suggestions would be useful.

Have you tried upgrading Word 2000 to Word 2002, its possible that there is
some conflict with printer understanding the older version of Word and the
Office 2002 suite. Also try updating your printer drivers.

Need to clarify. The OS is 2000. The office is 2002. Did try to
install newer print drivers to no effect. The symptom is and article
is sent to print. The printer flashes briefly, acknowledging the
article then freezes waiting for a close event in order to print.
This is after uninstalling and reinstalling the OFfice program
