Print labels on left side of report

I used the instructions from article Q210044 to show my monthly data in
columns, which worked great. My question is that since I had to set the
width property of the report to 2", my report and page headers are also 2".
I need to have a longer report title. Is there any way that I can have a
longer report title and still keep my columns at 2" ? Thanks so much.

Alex,
In design view, make your report full width (given your margins... say
7.5"), in Page Setup set the number of columns you want (say 3 for ex.), set
the column width to 2", and uncheck the Same as Detail.
Your long title will now display across the top.

Thanks Al - I tried your suggestion, but it didn't work. I currently have 5
columns set to 1.5" and same as detail is not checked. When I change the
report width to 7" and run the report, I get 5 columns of repeating labels,
no data. Any other suggestions? Thanks much.

Alex,
Please clarify, with examples...
I get 5 columns of repeating labels, no data.
How can labels "repeat" if there is no data.

Also, when you get these odd labels, is your report title the length you
wanted. That was the original question...
What are your Page Setup columns values (all), page size, and margins set
to.

Also, while we trouble shoot, use just 3 columns. 5 * 1.5 = 7.5 (wider than
7.0) , and with gutters, that may be exceeding the report width.

Alex has started a new thread that I believe is the same issue. In the other
thread, I suggested Alex use a crosstab query.

Al,

The report Duane is referring to is actually a report that although slightly
different, is enough to confuse me. I tried doing a crosstab query as the
report record source for the report you've been helping me with, but I didn't
need to since using the instructions to print labels on the left side of the
report accomplished what I needed (except for needing the wider report
header).

I tried what you suggested several times, but if I set the columns to 4, for
example, the report previews 4 columns of only the labels and there is an
endless number of pages in the report. When I click to view the last page of
the report, it runs for several seconds before I stop it. I'm assuming this
is happening because I've placed the labels directly on top of the
corresponding text boxes (per the instructions). There is actual data, but
it doesn't show on the first several pages. I'll try creating a cross tab
for my other report and will maybe then be able to create a cross tab for
this report too and won't have to worry about this label thing. Thanks so
much for all of your help.
Alex
