Print Page range shouldnt default to "all" when range highlighted

If the range option in the print window had no default or possibly
'selection' when an area on a page had been highlighted, the user would be
less inclined to hit the print button with the default 'all' and hence print
all of the page/document when it was only intended to print the range
selected.

If you print from the File Menu then you have an option to print page
range.

In word there is an option to Print selection as well.

Which application you are using?
