printer error with XP firewall enabled

S

Steve Paul

When I turn on the XP firewall, then open a word document, I get the message
"the printer has not yet responded, but the office program might be able to
proceed without printer information. Do you want to continue to wait for the
printer". Selecting no gets me in, but when I check my default printer, it
comes up blank yet I can select it from the drop down if I click the down
arrow ??? the default printer is setup as a local printer printing to an IP
address on the LAN. If I turn off the firewall, I don't see this problem.
Is there a way to leave my fierwall on & not get this problem ?

thanks
