Printer Port Name - NE00:

J

John Aldrin

Hi,

I've found that for Excel to print it requires a printer name in the
following syntax:
\\server\printer on NExx:" where the XX is some numeric value like "00"

Anyone know what NExx means? Anyone know where I can find this value? I
have not been able to find it in printer properties.

Thanx

They're sequential, I believe, giving unique "port" names for each network printer.

Down here:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\PrinterPorts

Does any one know why these would change? I have an app and about once every
few months the NExx changes for one of my usb lable printers. is there any
way I can stop this?

TIA
Josh
