Printing a word document which has photos inserted into it

When I type a letter and "insert" a photo or two it looks just fine on the
screen. Good detail, and clear. When I print the document, there are
horizontal lines from top to bottom in the photos only. There is a dark
line, light line, dark line, etc. This is not my printer, because when I
use the photo program to print photos on photo paper they turn out just fine.
I have Word 2007. I type a family newsletter in Word, and insert photos of
family functions. These photos are filled with those horizontal lines and
totally unacceptable. What can I do? I used to have XP, and now have VISTA.
Thanks for any help you good people can give to me.

This is a printer driver issue. Connect to the Internet support site for the
printer and download the latest Vista driver. Then delete and reinstall your
printer.

I had already gone to HP and was told that an Alternate driver solution was
in my system, and it told me how to install the driver. I did so. For my HP
6127 Printer, the alternate driver is Deskjet 990c. I did install the
alternate driver. They indicate that there will not be a full feature
Windows Vista driver solution for my product. This is very disappointing,
since my printer is only a couple of years old. Changing to VISTA has been
very problematic.

Meanwhile, why do photos print perfectly in Microsoft Office Picture
Manager, but not in word? This would seem to be a Word Problem. Very
frustrating, but I do appreciate your comments.

Any other suggestions anyone? Thanks

Word and Picture Manager use the printer driver completely differently and I
can really understand your frustration. Many hardware vendors are not
providing drivers for that work correctly with Vista and this seem
particularly so with printers. Whatsmore, they don't seem to care either.
I've not got the HP printer to try, but you could perhaps try inserting
pictures using a different format to see if it makes any difference. Not
that it helps, but I have experienced no problems with my Canon printer and
Vista.

I appreciate your comments very much. Oddly, after several tries, it finally
printed when I used the HP 990C (alternate printer suggested). Originally,
even that didn't work. As often happens, without doing anything different it
finally printed ok. That is frustrating in itself (ha-ha), but at least I
got it to work. Thanks so much for responding - I appreciate the help.
