printing greeting cards

Oh no - you've gone and destroyed my hope in you. And HP computer? Yikes. I
love their printers, scanners and digital cameras. Their
computers................... I'd have recommended another brand.

(Like I said - personal opinion.)

Why I have an HP computer... several years ago- Spring 2000 I think (time
goes by so fast I lose track) my computer broke. I had tried keeping it
going, it was the first one I got in 1998, and ALL I could get at the time
(make payments on) a Pro-Tech. The thing DID last though and the Daewoo
monitor that came with it just lost one of it's colors a few months ago. So,
I can't complain about that. (Same with the CANON BJC-250 printer I got with
it)

Anyway, I live in a rural area (Vermont) and don't have a lot of money and
not much for "ads" around here (and I had no computer after mine broke to
look online). I found 2 ads in our paper/ad paper. One was already sold. The
other was 80 miles away, and the wife (who answered) didn't know anything
about it, her husband had put the ad in and since broke his leg and was in
the hospital.

She asked him that night and called me back. He worked in an office and
had ordered 2 of these computers HP BRIO one for him and one for a co worker
who wanted it. And then he hadn't had the money, and no longer wanted it. It
was new, in the box (with keyboard and mouse) it had 8 GB hardrive (my
previous one had 3) and 64 MB RAM (my first had 32) (I since put more in and
have 128)

At the time, someone who owed me money got their tax refund in (a week
before it was due) and repaid me, so I have the $325 for the HP tower (new
in box) I also got someone to go the 80 miles to get it (beating a Spring
snow storm by a few hours)

It all fell into place. For one thing the wife was going to the hospital
and didn't know much about it, and I was the first one who called (when she
was home to answer) and she saved it for me.

Which is how I happened to have a HP computer (LOL) It has a restore
disk with it, that supposedly is only for HP (Win 98SE) and puts their own
drivers and stuff in.

It's worked good and still is, any problems I've had, I've been able to
fix (I ask for help on computer tech help boards). Last year I got an
internal CD BURNER ($33 online) and put that in (first time doing this,
though I had put in A drives). I have worked on some old computers, I get
people (I know or family) to give me theirs when they buy new ones- ones
they planned to throw out.

I can format the hardrive and install (or reinstall) WIN 98 (I have a
full restore disk for this from my 1998 computer).

I can't afford to buy much, or have things fixed, but in a way I've had
to learn because of this. I have another discarded computer set up in the
bedroom I can't get to connect (dialup) over 28000 bps (though I believe it
has a 56K modem in it). I can use it for tutorials, and a backup, though
it's slow. A few weeks ago I had to reinstall WIN 98 SE in the HP one, that
ended up taking a week (reinstalling and trying to get drivers and things to
work right) and I used the "sucky" computer in the bedroom, which, at the
time was actually the better one (LOL)

Now I have the HP working again, but I've been told my kids are going to
get me one from DELL for Mother's Day. One son is getting a loan or low
interest card to put the one he just bought and one for me on. Dell charges
high interest.

I do the best I can with what I have and can get. What I've noticed it,
there aren't a lot of people as low income as I am, WITH computers and
online. I first got one with the idea of it being something I could learn
and find a way to make money with (at home, because of not having a car and
living in a rural area). Of course that was in 1998.... and there are
millions of other people with computers and the same idea. It does take up
my mind and something I enjoy using and learning.

That's the story of my HP computer. Aren't you glad you mentioned it?
(LOL)

That was actually another option when I was looking. Someone told me
they
printed greeting cards on a "plain HP deskjet printer" (nothing fancy) and
it worked great.

I looked around, read reviews, and it was a tossup between the Lexmark
and
the HP (I have a HP BRIO computer)

I guess I went with the wrong one.

A Christian festival, also known as "Mother's Day", on which it is
traditional to buy cards/gifts/flowers for one's mother.
