printing handouts

I previously printed 3 slides to a page of a particular presentation. I now
want to change that and print 2 slides per page. I have clicked File: Print
Preview: Print What: 2 slides per page then closed that window. I then have
gone to File: Send to: MWord and request blank lines next to each slide.
MWord proceeds to prepare to print 3 slides to each page. Am I forgetting a
step here?

You'll need to make your changes once you're in Word (not in PowerPoint print
settings).

Once the PPT has transferred to Word, place your cursor on the 3rd slide on
Page 1.
Click Insert > Break > Page Break
You'll need to repeat this on each page.

Also, this might help: Fed up with the file bloat of Send-To-Word option?
Try a better alternative! Download it now. Shyam's Toolbox for PowerPoint

But this is not free. Does the free version do the transfer to Word you
discuss?

PowerPoint can send to word. Go to File|Send to|Word.

PPT's Send to Word utility doesn't have a lot of features and can be quite
cumbersome. That's why Sandy mentioned the alternative (not free) add-in.
