Printing masterpages

I have used Publisher for many years, but am mystifyed by Master Pages. i
have been asked to produce an 8 page A4 brochure. This will be photocopied on
a giital copier and PDFs will be provided. Should be simple. Originally I
created an A3 landscape page to enable me to put an A$ double page spread
(DPS). Of course the grids do not work as in effect it is creating one grid
for an A3 page and not 2 A4 pages. so no gutter in middle for folding and
stapling. But in Master Pages this problem is sorted and I therefore created
4 duplicate masterpage DPSs and laid out page 8-1, 2-7, 6-3 and 4-5. However
when I come to make the Post script file in Masterpages only page 1 is
created. I then played in Publisher mode and discovered that I could not edit
anything and by inserting the pages from MasterPage mode I could sort of
create PDfs but some pages were blank other were duplicated on left and right
pages etc. What am I dong wrong. i am sure that Masterpages are for this
purpose, or am I wrong?

Master Pages are for data that is going to be on all your pages, such as page
numbers. You can create a Master Page for each page, but it has nothing to do with
the way it is printed.
You need to setup your publication as a booklet. The correct order of pages will be
on your screen.

For future reference, if you go to File > Page Setup > Printer and Paper (or
File > Print Setup), and set your paper size to A3; then go to File > Page
Setup > Layout (or just File > Page Setup), and set the layout to Booklet
(or Book Fold), then Publisher will automatically lay out the pages into
double page spreads when you print - you can design as if you were looking
at the printed booklet (pages all in order)

Setup your printer for 11 x 17 (tabloid), landscape. Then setup your page for a
booklet.
