Printing off center

L

Linda

I have created a 6" wide by 12" long paper to use in
doing wedding invitations. All the text is centered
perfect on the page but it all prints to the right of
center and for the life of me, I can't figure out why.
Any body able to help me?
Thanks,
linda

Word is expecting the document to be fed from the center and you're feeding
it from the left? Or something similar. Word doesn't always handle custom
sizes well; if all else fails, pretend the paper is 8.5" wide and add 2.5"
to the right margin.

It would be better, of course, if Word and your printer would get together
on where they expect the paper to be. On my LaserJet 4100, small forms that
are sizes defined in the printer driver (such as 4 x 6 cards) feed from the
center (there are guides that move in to center them), whereas any custom
size I set in Word has to be fed from the left (without benefit of the
guides). On my old LaserJet 4, small forms were fed from the left in either
case, and there was just one guide that moved over from the right. In some
ways the latter was more satisfactory.

In this case, however, you just do what you have to do. If you don't have
guides to help you center the paper, though, you might find that a
workaround would be better than guesswork.
