printing pictures windows 2003

i've installed windows2000 as o.s. and use office 2003. when i make word
documents in which i insert pictures from files, which i reseize to 50% and i
do print the document to my Tectronix networkprinter i get the following
result:
the width of the picture is ok, but the size is only half. on the other
hand the picture is printed twice: each time compressed to half of the height.
when i save my document and open it with office 20003 on a win xp os the
same document does not give any problem.
what is going on? what can i do?

Updating the printer driver comes to mind as the corrective action for
this issue.
