Printing problems from within Word - help needed

M

M. B.

I am completely stumped. Ever since I bought a Brother 1670N laser
printer (using the latest Win XP WHQL drivers), I have had a mystery problem
when printing from within Word (XP or the new Office 2003 version). Here
is what (randomly) happens:

Sometimes when I load-up a document (or select to do a new one), all of the
page paremeters get "squeezed". Meaning that the font, even though it
remains Times New Roman 12-point, it prints out like it is 8 point. If I
change my printer driver to a "generic" LaserJet 6L, everything prints out
fine.
I actually see the on my display screen that somehow the "margins" change
when I swtich to another printer driver. Now, all of this happens
randomly and I cannot re-create this issue at anytime.

I have spoken to Brother and since this is only happening within Word, and
no other program has this same issue, they tell me to contact Microsoft.

I thought it was a Office XP issue, but since I am now using the Office 2003
Word, and same thing is happening, I am at total loss. I want to use the
Brother driver since there are many features that are not implement in the
"generic" drivers.

Anyone have suggestions or ideas?
