Printing Webpage to OneNote--a problem

T

Tom D.

Hi. I cannot print a webpage to OneNote, like I can with my Tablet PC. I
installed OneNote to a desktop PC, but could not load OneNote as a printer as
the Control Panel/Printer & Faxes does not recognize OneNote as a printer and
does not give me an option to install OneNote as a printer.

Please help.

Hi. I cannot print a webpage to OneNote, like I can with my Tablet

There are no differences ins so far between a Desktop PC and a
TabletPC.

Must be something gone wrong when installing (or the PowerToy missing
if it would be ON 2003).

Thanks, Rainard. I am still hoping that someone could tell me how to solve
this problem. Printing from an internet webpage to save paper is the primary
reason I bought this OneNote 2003. I searched "help" but found nothing. I
have loaded ON 2003 onto 2 desktops now with same result of not being able to
print to the "Sent" file in ON 2003. One desktop is using Windows XP--Home &
the other is using Window XP--Professional.

Any additional help I can get would be much appreciated! Thanks,
Tom

The "Send to OneNote 2003" printer only installs on a tablet PC. You
can't install this printer on a desktop OS. I'd suggest to get OneNote
2007 Beta 2 and the required Beta 2 Technical Refresh Patch (and if you
still can, return ON 2003). ON 2007 lets you install such a printer on
any Windows OS.

Patrick,

You must be correct!

Because I called MS Support and they told me that I could install "Send to
OneNote from Internet Explorer PowerToy" download (along with MS .NET
Framework 1.1)--which I did along with reloading OneNote 2003 on 2 desktops,
but neither one allowed me to print from Internet webpage or MS Words,
PowerPoint, etc.

Thanks, I'll have to try to get the 2007 Beta version, but I doubt I can
upgrade or return this Student's Edition...

Patrick,

Just loaded OneNote 2007 Beta, and I am able to print from Internet webpages
& MS programs from "desktop" computers, just as you had diagnosed and solved
my question.

Thanks for your competency, and for saving me lots of time trying to find a
solution.

Thanks for the success report, Tom.

In case you did not yet notice that:
You can not only *print* to ON using the "Send to OneNote" printer.

If it's websites you can also *copy* the content (whole pages as well
as just marked parts) into ON.
The ON icon in the Browser's toolbar is used for that.

The differences:
(1) *Printing* puts an *image* into ON.
Special feature in ON: Images are treated with automatic OCR and the
output of that is indexed.

(2) Copying web-stuff into ON inserts *editable* text (and
non-editable images of the graphics on the page).

Both is most powerful.
