Priv.edb and Priv.stm

I see there are quite a few comments on this problem. I have read thru them
and checked out all info before posting this. My particulars are as
follows...My .edb file is 4.2 Gb, my .stm file is 9.6 Gb. My mailboxes total
2.4 Gb. I have limits set on my mailboxes but it doesn't seem to matter when
my limits add up to 3 Gb but my total .ebd and .stm file still add up to 13.8
Gb. We are running standard and have already had one crash hitting the 16 Gb
limit. I have checked the 1221 events and according to these the private
store has 1.9 Gb available and the public has 329 Mb. Would it be safe to
say an offline is the only way to gain this space back? I had to do one with
my crash a year or so ago and it only had one after effect. One of our
employees has extremely large tasks. All of his attachments were in date
order with comments. After the defrag, all attachments were moved to the
bottom of the task which caused major stress for both of us. I was thinking
I would move his tasks to .pst file this time if I have to do another
offline. Thanks.
