Pro vs. Standard

M

mom.com

I currently have Office Professional 2000, purchased with CD and Key.
I am now working with others who have Office Profesional 2003.

I would like to Upgrade to 2003 but what are the differences between Pro and
Standard versions?

Can I even install and run a Standard Upgrade with my Professional version?
Will they recognize that I have Office installed?

Should I just stick with Professional and make it easier on my computer and
too darn bad with the checkbook?

I just hate the thought of upgrading 2003 pro now with 2007 right around the
corner.

Any advice for me, I basically use Word, Excel & now PowerPoint.

Hi Mom,

You'll find comparisons on what is in each of the different editions of MS Office 2003 at http://microsoft.com/office/howtobuy. You
can purchase any upgrade edition and use any Office 2000 edition as a qualifying product, so you can go from Office 2000
Professional to Office 2003 standard, for example.

A Microsoft press release mentioned that the Office 2007 technology guarantee should be effective 26Oct. The details aren't yet
posted on the MS Office website, but if it's similar to prior technology guarantees, once it's in effect your purchase of Office
2003 (except Student & Teacher edition) during the technology guarantee period should allow you to get a free/lower cost upgrade to
Office 2007 during a certain time frame.

Ok I am downloading the trial version 2003.
Should I also download and install the SP1 and so forth.
Which order or does the SP3 have an all in one download?

I also read this:
you must have your existing Microsoft Office back-up media if you choose to
return to a previous edition of Microsoft Office after using this trial.

How would I go about backing up my media for office 2000? Which media is it
talking about? Or am I fine since I have my Office 2000 CD? In case I decided
not to purchase 2003?

Sorry for posting so many replies to myself, but questions just keep popping
up!
Should I uninstall 2000 before I install 2003?

I just read that 2003 doesn't have a clip art gallery like 2000 does. Is
that what my last post meant by "existing Microsoft Office back-up media ?"
Man I just want to install / activate / play!! :)
