Probably Easy Outlook Queries

Hi All

Wonder if you could clear up some general Outlook 2000/2002 (XP)/2003
queries for me:

1) Is there any char or method in any of the above apps to make a folder go
to the bottom of a folder list?

At the moment I use 'z' as a prefix, eg zASP, but surely there is a better
method.

2) Is there an option or key to make folders automatically zip/snap back up
again?

After I drop an email into say 3 or 4 tree levels of folders I then have to
go and click the '-' next to each folder level to snap them back up again.

3) I think you can do this in Outlook 2003, but for the other 2 apps is
there any way to make sure that all email that comes in is converted to
plain text?

I can't stand HTML email and even though I have set the option to use plain
text in Tools/Options/Mail Format (admittedly this appears to be only for
sending emails) I still get these blasted HTML ones.

I found a Tweak OL tool on snapfiles.com, which gave an option to set all as
plain text, but this seems to have no effect whatsoever.

Anybody know of any tweaking tools that will do this?

Many thanks.

1. No, z prefix is the only way. I use . or _ to prefix ones I want at the
top instead.
2. Either click on the - or hit the left arrow key when the folder is
selected.
3. There is a reg key for 2002, nothing built in for 2000. Have you tried
Chilton Preview? It doesn't render HTML and if you need to read a message in
HTML, you only need to open it. See
http://www.outlook-tips.net/archives/2004/20040603.htm for the OL2002 key.

Dear Diane

I did the DWORD READASPLAIN=1 in the exact same registry path as stataed and
I checked and confirmed that I am running Outlook 2002 SP1, but the HTML
messages are still coming through.

Do you know what could be doing wrong?

The only thing I did notice was that there are entries for 10.0, 11.0, 8.0
and 9.0 in the same area of the registry.

For 2002, it would be under the path for 10... but if you had 2002, you
wouldn't have an entry for 11.0... and 2003 has a checkbox, it doesn't need
the reg key.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Outlook\Options\Mail
DWORD of READASPLAIN
Value is 1
