Probably not the right forum in which to post this, but...

I have a computer at work that has been to our tech guy several times. It is
running Office Pro 2000 with Windows XP. Talk about S L O W! It has
recently had more RAM installed, and I keep it clean - ran TrendMicro last
week, which did not find any threats.

Can anybody tell me where I can find an answer to this problem? If a simple
Word doc. is open, when we are done and save the changes, then go to close
it, it sometimes takes up to three minutes to close!

I have typed in slow computer, and computer running slow in Google, and have
followed some of those suggestions, to no avail. Anybody???

Sounds like my craptop. I told a coworker that doing anything on it is like
getting pecked to death by a duck. It'll happen............eventually.

(My problem is ancient hardware running Office XP Pro.)

just a suggestion but have you ran adware and spyware and defragged it lately?

Yes, it has been defragged three times in the last month, and I run adaware
and spybot weekly, if not more often. A few months ago, I had two techies
tell me that that computer would not last much over six months. One of the
techs is our main tech support person. He's the one who just installed new
RAM on it. Uh, why he did that, I don't know. If he thinks the computer
won't last much longer, then why put more $$$ into it?

There HAS to be a reason it is running so slowly. Nobody has found it yet.
It did help putting more RAM in it, but it still should not hangstall like it
does.

I'll keep looking. In the meantime, thanks for your help! This is the best
support forum I've found!

If you're using Symantec/Norton AntiVirus, try disabling the
Office Plugin that comes with it. See
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=329820 "How to use Office
programs with the Norton AntiVirus Office plug-in" for more
information.

If you're using McAfee Security Suite, try disabling or
uninstalling the Privacy Service that comes with it.
