Problem Activating Groove Client with Groove Management Server

I'm new at this so please be patient

I just installed Groove Management Server, Relay and Data Bridge and I'm
having a problem activating the client with the GMS. When use the activation
code given on the GMS admin website, it says that "Groove cannot reach the
Configuration server". I did some reading and tried using gms.groove.net as
the configuration server and I get an invalid code. Now that I think of it,
I suspect that the gms.groove.net is for using the public relay servers,
which I do not want to use. I also have a problem sending out the activation
codes by email. If anybody could help it would be greatly appreciated.

Note: I did search around and tried some possible remedies such as allowing
all connections for the Default SMTP Virtual Server.

If more information is needed, please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Hi chu,

I think you have mutliple problems.
First of all is port 80 open to the manager server, you need this for the
client to connect to the GMS.
Is the relay and manager in the same subnet (DMZ). If not you need to open
up the SOAP ports 8009 / 8010
Also open up 2492, 443 and 80 to the relay server
Further on did you do the ID and reg key exchange form relay to manager and
visa versa.
You can check this by using the relay.exe -d command on the relay server.
(first stop the relay service on the relay server)

The activation mail is done by a mail host. You need to use the SMTP in IIS
and make sure your mail server relays the mail from the GMS.

If you have more questions. let me know.

see ya,

Jeroen

I did do the exchange between the management server and the relay server
already, so I ran the command you told me to and it doesn't seem like it
finished. The last thing that came up was
"0417 110408.958 079c:0518 IPADDRESS:3322 Soap Interface: userAdd:UserID
F8231DF0-F4A7-43E1-A916-753D89DFB3E0 added successfully"

When I exited the program it said SSTP Service threat (0x03b8) exiting. So
I'm guessing something is wrong there? Any ideas? I followed all the
instructions from the administrator's guides.

I also researched a bit more and found out that I did not have an SSL
certificate installed on the server machine which I have now done. Still the
same problem.

Thanks.

Dmitriy,

I have since got Groove working. The step I took to fix this problem was to
look into the security settings in IIS. Search my other post here titled
"Help with authentication settings". Change your settings to the same as the
person who replied to me. Also make sure that in the Groove management site,
you have the correct certificate authority.
