Problem Activating Office 2003

Rafael Campana

Hi,

I installed the newly office 2003 (from my MSDN
subscription), and when trying to activate through the
internet it gives the error:
"The Activation Wizard is unable to find a connection to
the internet."
I'm behind a proxy/firewall that requires user/pass
login. One thing I made sure was to first run IE log on
to the proxy, and browse some internet websites, then
launched Outlook 2003, but I have the same problems.

Any solutions to this?

thanks.

Then try using the telephone method.

I was able to plug the machine from outside a proxy, so
does that mean that the activation wizard does not work
with proxies?
I can foresee this being a problem when users (at a
company) have to activate multiple copies...

Users at companies usually have the software installed from an Enterprise or
Select license. These do not require activation.

This issue is documented in
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;822519. As Milly
says, the workaround is to use phone activation.
