Problem adding attachments to emails

Every time I try to add an attachment to an email I get the message - Out of
memory or system resources. Close some windows or programs and try again.
However I have no other windows or programs running or open. I am not getting
this warning with any other software and everything seems to be working fine
on the computer. Would appreciate any suggestions to resolve this. Thanks
