Problem changing font on Word 2000 labels

There is no option to change font size on a label in Word 2000. I've changed envelope font and the default font in Word options with no effect on the font in labels. How can I scale the font to the appropriate size for an address label?

Select the text and right-click; choose Font. But changing the default font
in Word should affect labels, which use the Normal font.
