Problem converting access 2003 db to v2007

I would like like to convert some of my Access 2003 databases to 2007. I am
on a stand alone pc running Vista Business and Office 2007.

When I follow the "convert" instructions using either the SAVE AS option (or
even the CONVERT), I get this error message which prevents the conversion
taking place.

"You attempted to open a database that is already opened exclusively by user
'Admin' on machine <name>. Try again when database is available."

My Vista User Account is on of administrator.

Any help would as always be appreciated. Thank you

Access MDB is a poor choice for your database needs.

It is no longer reccomended to use JET for anything

I've never hit an error like this in the past decade of working with
SQL Server.
More importantly- I can easily _DETERMINE_ who is doing what, when
where and why-- in SQL Server.

With Access MDB / ACCDB; you're stuck asking the network admin to
reboot the file servers once a month so that you can write a new
query.

No, it's an excellent choice for many, many database needs.

It is no longer reccomended to use JET for anything

Maybe not recommended by you, but it is recommended by many others.

Any particular reason you need to convert the database files to ACCESS 2007?
ACCESS 2007 will happily continue to use your files in their ACCESS 2003
format, and then you won't need to make many potential changes after
conversion to "fix" issues that may occur because the two versions are quite
different.

only" was checked. It said you can only change data in linked table.
To make design changes, save a copy of the database.
When I searched for a customer and then wanted to edit an order, it
said "please report this to programming support (frmOrders.FormOpen)
3086; Could not delete from specified tables (I wasn't trying to
delete anything, just to view an order). Also, the customers name
disappeared.

You wrote to another person that he should be able to work with Access
2003 in Access 2007 without converting the files, but I see there are
problems.

Any suggestions?

ACCESS 2007 will let you work with ACCESS 2003 database files; you do not
need to convert the 2003 files to 2007 format.

Are you using split databases when you're seeing this problem?

Did you copy the database files onto your home computer from a CD or DVD? If
yes, then the files are marked "read only" by Windows. You'll need to
right-click on the files in Windows Explorer and uncheck the ReadOnly
checkbox.

ACCESS 2007 will let you work with ACCESS 2003 database files; you do not
need to convert the 2003 files to 2007 format.
