problem deleting emails

I cannot delete emails in my inbox. when i try to delete,
either by highlighting the message or actually opening it
to delete, i get an error message "the messaging
interface ahs returned an unknown error." any ideas?

Empty your Deleted Items folder and try to delete it again. If this doesn't
work run scanpst.exe against your pst-file.
