Problem Opening Documents

When I open an office document, the MS Word screen opens,
but the file does not and the top bar flashes from bright
blue to lite blue. The bottom left corner says "virus
scanning". I cannot close the Word software and have to
turn off the machine.

When I do, and open word (as in to start a new file) I
get the message that the last time I had a problem and it
will open in "safe mode". I am able to open documents
in safe mode.

When I close Word in safe mode and then attempt to open a
document it repeats the problem again.

Help?

If you have Norton AV software disable the Microsoft Office Plug-In of that
software.
