Problem Opening Tables

I have installed MS Access on a new computer but am having problems creating
a new table by any means: import, wizard, copying, or data entry. In all
cases I get the error message "Invalid Argument". Does anyone have an idea
of what is wrong or how to determine what argument Access is finding to be
invalid?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Can you open any existing database like the sample Northwinds? If not I'd
guess that your install of Access or Office Professional did not go well.
