I am trying to print a document on 11 X 17 inch paper in portrait mode. The printer is set up correctly, but the print job sent to it from MS Word is in "plain letter" format. (I can see this on the printer's display.) That is, Word does not seem to be sending the correct paper size to the printer, so the printer tries to print a 8.5 X 11 (letter) printout on the 11 X 17 paper.

MS Word appears to be sending the wrong paper size to the printer, although the correct paper size is selected in Page Setup.

I think this is a MS Word problem since when I save the printout as a PDF and print from Adobe Reader, it prints fine.

If you're getting a correct PDF from Word then Word is not "sending the
wrong paper size" - generating a PDF is a print process the same as sending
to a physical printer.

Have you chedcked the mfr's site for an update to your printer driver?
That's the most likely cause, followed by corruption of your current driver.
Updating or reinstalling as appropriate should remedy the situation... And
before you object :) No, just because a printer responds properly to one
program doesn't dictate that there is no problem with the driver or the
printer.
