problem publishing to the web

Let me start by letting you know that I am using FrontPage 2000 with
winXP. I am new to using FrontPage and creating web pages. I created a
personal web page and I am having a problem publishing my site to the
server. I have webspace available through my ISP, Cox cable. I followed
the instructions given by FrontPage and by Cox's website
(http://support.cox.net/custsup/personal_pages/instructions.shtml) and it
appears that I was able to publish it no problem. Through Cox's website I
am able to see that the files are indeed on their server. When I try to
view my website though, http://members.cox.net/jamesclery/, I just get a
screen with info on getting started, the same thing I got before I published
it. Cox does support FrontPage and I have activated FrontPage server
extensions.
Also once I publish the pages I get a dialog box in FrontPage with a
link to view my site. When I select the link, I am asked to log in and then
I get a page with all of the files and folders that I published, but not a
web page. The address is also listed as FTTP: (or ftp:) instead of http:.
I have know idea what the problem could be and being inexperienced with
creating and publishing WebPages I have no idea where to start
troubleshooting. Cox's tech support for this is of no help at all. If
anyone can help or point me in the right direction for troubleshooting I
would appreciate it, maybe someone else who has a personal web page with Cox
cable.

1) Your home page filename must be named index.htm
2) Did you publish using http - File Publish http://www.members.cox.net/jamesclery/
If not (and you used FTP), then have them reinstall the FP SE and re publish

publish

My home page file name is not index and yes I did publish it using http.
thanks for the help.

Actually it is named index.htm on my PC, I thought changing the title might
of changed the file name. Cox web space is down right now for maintenance
so I can't check and see if the file name is right on their server. I'll
have to check tomorrow and maybe I did everything right and it was a problem
on their part. Thanks again

Actually, your page can be named anything you want, but if it's named
anything other than index.html or default.html, then you have to give the
page name in the URL like http://mypisp.com/xyz.html FYI you can use the
ending htm instead of html

I got it to work, I was able to view the files through their website and I
clicked on the index page. I just had the address wrong. instead of
http://members.cox.net/jamesclery, it is
http://members.cox.net/jamesclery/jamesclery. I'm not sure why, FrontPage
linked me to first and wrong address. Thanks for the help, It gave me an
idea where to look for the problem. Don't go laughing at my site now, I
just threw something together real quick, still a work in progress.
