Problem publishing to Web Site.

W

Wendy

I have created a web site in publisher. I am trying to publish to web, but
get as far as:

Click the drop down list arrow in the Save in: box. At the very bottom of
this list, scroll if necessary, you’ll see two lines – FTP locations and
Add/Modify FTP locations. Since this is your first upload you’ll need to
first Add your upload URL so click on Add/Modify FTP locations. (Next time
you publish you’ll skip the following steps)

I have no list in my Save in box. No FTP locations, etc. Where have I gone
wrong??

AS a note:
I originally posted website with a file manager from my host. No problem.
Then because I have two forms I had to upload a front page manager. Site is
www.listingimpressions.ca

Hi David:
You seem to be the most knowledgeable about Publisher.
I had a website and a web "designer" put it on publisher to make it easier
for me to make changes. It has been a nightmare.
Some how something was changed because I cannot publish to the web. A notice
comes up from microsoft that they have encounter a problem and must close.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
I accnot find the original site from the designer and several have been
created trying to publish the site.
Did something get removed? How can I do a step by step? I have read all the
manuals for publisher, but don't understand 1/2 the language. How can I fix it
when I don't know what's wrong? who is the administrator? Me?

You want to post web publication issues in the web design forum and not this
"general" forum. Make a note that we have functionality specific forums.

You cannot use ftp if you are using a Publisher form. This topic is fully
covered on the FAQ page - http://www.publishermvps.com/Default.aspx?tabid=30

You will need appropriate publishing directions, which are available at -
http://www.publishermvps.com/WebDesign/Version2003/tabid/33/Default.aspx

David Bartosik certainly was an expert in using Publisher for building webs,
but he has been inactive for a couple years now. Most of his content has
been archived and is still valuable information:
http://msmvps.com/blogs/dbartosik/
Use the search feature on that page to find the articles quoted in his
response, but realize that some of the content is dated and no longer
applies.

Do you have the original Publisher publication from which the web was
produced? If not, it can be recreated if you are using the correct version
of Publisher, but it will be a tedious process.

Which version of Publisher are you using?
What operating system are you using?
What is the URL of your website?
Do you have any forms on your site?
Are you using FTP or HTTP uploading protocols?
Do you own your own domain name?
Who hosts your site, and are you the administrator?
Please state the details of the problem you are having in uploading and
updating your site, including any error messages.

Please repost all of this including the answers to my questions in the web
group and we will try to help you there. If you are using a NNTP newsreader
such as Outlook Express:

If you are using the forum:
