Hi there

About 1 year ago purchased new Tosh that came with Office 2007. Using
the activation assistant I enetered the product serial number.
Everything activated OK but the icon on the desktop remained. Being a
lazy old git I never removed it but now I wish to as am doing a pc
cleanup. I tried uninstalling it in the programs/features facillity in
control panel. Selected the "Activation assistant for the 2007
microsoft office suites" and then clicked uninstall. Everthing seemed
to work OK but the Icon is still on the desktop!! When I double click
on the icon it opens up a blank dialogue box with the path c:\program
files\activation assistant for the 2007 microsoft office
suites\ota.hta. Went into windows explorer and this path and file no
longer exist so why does the blank box appear and why is the icon
still on the desktop?

Any help greatly appreciated.
TIA

Can you Right Click the icon, and choose Delete?

Can you Right Click the icon, and choose Delete?

Of course I can. That is the easy option. But being an inqusitive so
and so I want to know what is causing the blank box to appear and why
the uninstall process never removed it in the first place. What
application or .dll file opens up if the shortcut no longer exists.
Normally, if the file location no longer exists for a desktop icon you
simply get a windows error message stating "Folder gobbledyggok doesnt
exist. Please ensure the path is correct". So why is this different
and what other unneeded files might it have left behind?
